What SE challenges are you experiencing in SA?
Tell us about specific difficulties you are having with any facet
of Systems Engineering. Although INCOSE SA itself does not provide
SE consultation or training services, it would be of interest to us
to know what typical difficulties SE practitioners are facing when
applying SE in our part of the world.
We intend posting these issues on this website, so that others
might be able to offer advice or comments. Depending on demand, we
might consider setting up a Chat Forum on this site.
Also note that an international forum for online discussions
exists already. Visit INCOSE main
site.
Let us know of your issues ...

The INCOSE SA Chapter has done exceptionally well since
it's inception during 2002. As reflected by the
current winners on the main INCOSE website, the
chapter thus far received an honourable mention as start-up
chapter for 2002, a Bronze Circle Award as well as the
Director's Award for the Most Improved Chapter for 2003, a Silver
Circle Award for 2004 and 2005 and Gold Circle Award for
2006 and 2007.
These awards
are not only recognition of the leadership effort, but
also of the continued support of our members without whom
the chapter does not exist.

Criteria for Chapter Awards Program on the main INCOSE
site. Back

Back
- Systems engineering was first used in the USA during the
1940's, but only during the 1980's in South Africa.
- Systems engineering is not only used in complex engineering
problems, SE principles now also increasingly find applications in
areas as diverse as legal process design, enterprise engineering,
management, etc.
- Many disasters can be traced back to failure in applying
appropriate systems engineering. Some notable events include the
Challenger space shuttle, Hubble space telescope, and closer to
home, some buildings and bridges that collapsed during
construction.
- Systems engineering failures almost always lead to loss of
life or major systems.
If you have any interesting facts about systems engineering, why
not share them with us? Contact
Chapter President.
