INCOSE SA is the South African chapter of an international body known as
INCOSE (International Council on Systems Engineering). INCOSE SA was founded in
2002 and is registered as a non-profit (section-21) company.
INCOSE is an international authority promoting the application of an
interdisciplinary approach and means to enable the realisation of successful
systems. In Southern Africa, this aim is carried further by INCOSE SA.
INCOSE SA has a total of more than 170 members from a wide range of
industries in South Africa and in neighbouring countries.

INCOSE SA operates in line with the mission and goals of the
international INCOSE organisation.
PURPOSE
The purpose of the CHAPTER is to foster the definition, understanding,
and practice of world-class systems engineering in industry, academia, and
government.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the CHAPTER are to provide a focal point for
dissemination of systems engineering knowledge, and through its
involvement with the INCOSE to:
- Promote collaboration in systems engineering education and research;
- Support the establishment of professional standards for integrity in
the practice of systems engineering;
- Improve the professional status of all persons engaged in the
practice of systems engineering;
- Encourage governmental and industrial support for research and
educational programmes that will improve the systems engineering
process and its practice; and
- Promote CHAPTER activities with industry, government and academia
within the geographical area of the CHAPTER.
ACTIVITIES
- The CHAPTER encourages conferences, workshops, seminars and
tutorials, and may sponsor or co-sponsor such events as appropriate.
- The CHAPTER shall provide its members with a communication channel
for the dissemination of the systems engineering knowledge base.
- The CHAPTER shall strive to increase research and educational
activities that enhance the practice of systems engineering.
